About Me

Posted by Mel the Crafty Scientist On 0 comments

I just finished my third of five years in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology doctoral program at a university in South Carolina.

My professional interests include the study of gender, resilience (e.g., core self-evaluations or CSE, hardiness), expressive writing, benefit finding in stressful situations, and occupational health psychology.

I've presented my work at both the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology (SIOP) annual conferences and the International Conference on Work, Stress and Health.

My not-so-professional interests include sports, particularly baseball, college and pro football. I've been cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Dallas Cowboys since I was a little girl though I truly love any good game... and being there live or watching from home with Bella, my adorable dog (though I admit I'm biased). I'm partial to "30 Rock," "The Office," and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." I'm pretty eclectic in taste - I love all kinds of music and read blogs addressing everything from the sociology of gender in popular culture to DIY crafts and projects.
